“Buy in haste, repent at leisure.” Or, “you have to lose to win in a bidding war.”

433 Riversville Road, a 1900 house on 13 acres, was listed for $3.750 in September, 2019, and sold a few days later for $4.5 million. That lucky winner apparently changed his mind, and put it back on the market this past September for $4.850; it closed today at $4.450.

So, not a total wash, but if you deduct transaction costs of maybe $300,000, and subtract the $50,000 lost between the buying and the selling, that’s an expensive, two-year experiment in home owning.
