They say that a camel is a horse designed by a committee, but I kinda like this house

New today, 294 Riversville Road, a 1957 “transitional design” according to its listing agent, priced at $4.295 million. I haven’t heard that term, and certainly never seen a colonial/modernist combo before, but this works, to my eye. The Fountain boys were raised in miserable conditions in a colonial reproduction on Gilliam Lane — I’m still amazed that Child Services wasn’t brought in to rescue us — and to this day I don’t like dark homes that require a light to be turned on in daytime in order to read.

Yet I do like the lines of colonials, so this offers both: a nice, traditional design to come home to when pulling into the driveway, and then an open, airy, and light home to live in. Neat.
